The Finish Line

It's been well over a week since the marathon and you've probably noticed the distinct absence of any "Ta Da! We're Home!" type of post. I've made several random attempts to post an entry these last few days but I just keep coming back to one thought.

In the end, we ran a race.

Woo hoo.

Big deal.

What does it matter?

Honestly, there are still some things that we are processing. We do know that this entire marathon idea was God's and not ours. And it was a lot harder than we anticipated. If someone had told me that we would spend the entirety of our training without a working tub or shower in our house, I would have laughed out loud. If someone had told me that I would be diagnosed with nerve damage in my neck 4 days before the race, my laughter might have sounded a bit more hysterical.

But we did it. We finished.

Not because we are exceptional athletes.

Not because we are uber-holy religious saints.

We did it because the One who calls is ALWAYS (I'll say that again) ALWAYS faithful to enable His children.

And now we have 3 blessings we did not have four months ago...

1.) $9,315 raised toward adoption fees.

2.) An amazing team of prayer warriors and friends who have rallied around us, supporting us, praying with us and already loving a child they have yet to meet.

3.) The first hand experience of Jesus enabling us to do something we never thought possible. Translated?

Hope.

Confidence.

Promise.

So if we didn't truly understand all the reasons God planted this marathon idea in our heads, we have a better idea now. The final finish line is still a long way off. There will be obstacles. It will be hard. But we will cross that finish line because the One who calls is ALWAYS faithful to enable His children.
