Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!

We went to our first wedding as a family today. (Congrats to Keith & Kristen!!) Well, not the actual wedding ceremony. The girls stayed home with Grandpa and Grandma since we had visions of Lilly spending the entire service trying to escape to crawl down the isle and Janelle loudly inquiring, "Why does that man [Father Paul] have a dress on?" in the middle of the vows. So Mom and Dad went to the ceremony and then picked up the girls for the reception. (AKA: A room probably in violation of the fire code, filled with strangers, acquaintances, and friends eating free food and dancing awkwardly to old pop music... IT WAS A BLAST!)

We have always had suspicions that Lilly was more like Andy and Janelle took after me, but the reception offered further evidence. Poor Pickle hated the noise and commotion and crowds. She never once cracked a smile and pretty much wore a "Get me out of here!" expression the entire time. (Andy did a better job of hiding it, but I bet if there was a thought bubble hovering above his head, it would read "Is it time to go home yet? I need to go talk to some trees.")

This is Lilly telling us it's time to go home.

Janelle, on the other hand, was a social butterfly, dancing queen, and party girl. She spent the entire evening practicing her audition for Season 19 of So You Think You Can Dance? You should have seen her out on the dance floor bustin' some moves! (Click here to watch a video of Nelly dancing.) I think Andy is becoming concerned at how well she shakes that little tush. She will now frequently request her dancing music, or as she refers to it: "the rock-n-roll song". Yes folks, our daughter is now a dedicated Bob Segar fan. We're not sure how we feel about it.

And we should probably add "heart-breaker" to her resume. Kristen's 3 year old nephew, Lukas, tried to give her a flower and dance with her. Much to Andy's delight, Janelle refused the flower and cried when Lukas grabbed her hand to dance. Poor Lukas. There will be years of flowers and dances ahead but for now, we are relieved that boys still have cooties. I would write more but Andy wants the computer to run a background check on Lukas.
