I have put off writing about our Match Monday results for two reasons: Number 1.) Every time I try to get a final total, more money comes in. It just keeps coming. Number 2.) I don't know how to put words to the emotions swirling inside of me. I am
completely
utterly
overwhelmed.
How do I describe to you the events of these last three days?
The feeling of having your church family, member after member, press checks into your hands with excitement shining in their eyes ...
The sound of the doorbell ringing over and over all day long to announce friends, neighbors, and acquaintances standing on your front porch offering you money and encouragement...
The joy of holding cards from extended family members and reading their words of absolute support when you were worried how they would react to your news...
The moment you open your email and find your inbox full of donations and well-wishes from old friends and classmates from all over the country...
We are still in shock. The outpouring of love and support from all of you absolutely blew us away. As of this moment, our total stands at $7,765 including the match.
$7,765 IN THREE DAYS.
From Day 1 we understood that the estimated cost of this adoption was $27,000. That number didn't sound huge, it sounded practically impossible. But we set our first goal of raising $10,000 which would carry us through the beginning stages of the adoption process and through the home study at which point we would be able to start applying for grants. How in the world were we going to raise $10,000? That is a lot of bake sales. Anyone want to buy a $25 dollar brownie?
And now we find ourselves already astonishingly close to our first goal. Close enough for it all to finally feel real. Add in $700 we raised previously, the figure stands at $8,465.
Please feel free to come to us with any questions you may have. We would love to answer them for you, or at least try. We've been asked many times what our timetable is for this adoption. Honestly, we have no timetable. We set one goal at a time and then watch God work. It is completely His timetable. Our God is BIG and when He moves you better just hang on tight and enjoy the ride.
