.) Somehow an "easy, little" yard sale will turn into a massive pile of donated yard sale items that threaten to take over your entire basement.
.) Said basement will inevitably flood in the rainiest spring Pennsylvania has seen in 100 years.
.) You will find you move suprisingly fast when faced with the task of hauling all that stuff up into your living room as you watch your basement flood from both ends at once.
.) Be sure to assemble a caravan to transport everything. Four vehicles and a trailer later...
.) Spending 18 cumulative hours pricing will give you dreams of being chased by yard sale pricing stickers.
.) If you have had rain for 89 days in a row and the Weather Channel says that this Saturday will be sunny and beautiful:
Do Not Believe Them.
.) Pack more tarps.
.) That hideously ugly cookie jar that you almost tossed instead of packing along? Put a sticker on that puppy because it will be the FIRST thing to sell. Really.
.) And perhaps most importantly, all yard sales need a mascot. Meet Fergus the Frog. We had 14 offers on him. He's not for sale.
All kidding aside, thanks so much to everyone who donated items. Although this yard sale refused to go according to plan, God still brought in $746 that we did not have the day before. And we have enough stuff in the basement to try again this fall: Adoption Fundraiser Yard Sale, Take II. Hopefully without the rain.
