We've been completely enthralled by summer.
Charmed into throwing schedules and chores and bedtimes right out the window.
It was perfect.
It was exactly what summer should be.
Our freckles were popping, our meals were al fresco, and our bathing suits were practically lived-in.
I am a little sad that summer's grip left little time for blogging though so I'll do my best to give you the abbreviated version of the last few months.
1.) Our little Nelly Belly ran her very first official race. With a race number and everything. She rocked it, of course.

4.) Much has been said in the past about Andy's anal-perfectionist gardening tendencies. In the beginning of the summer, his garden was a picture-perfect beauty: neat rows, carefully manicured, precisely planted. Then some wandering buck had the audacity to claim our garden as his all you-can-eat-breakfast-buffet and Andy declared war. I won't go into details but a BB gun and coyote urine were involved. And now this is what our garden looks like: complete with makeshift scarecrows, dangling plastic bags, old hats and gloves staked out on poles, and a spiderweb pattern of twine and timber flagging. Fancy.
5.) Pickle has always been hesitant when it came to the horses but after 3 and a half years, she finally felt brave enough to ride with me. And her little hands kept a white-knuckled grip on the saddle horn the entire time.
6.) We revelled in the Olympics this summer and watched as much as we could considering we don't have cable. We hit Nana & Papa's for the Opening Ceremony, crashed at Grandma & Grandpa's several times and then hit good ol' youtube for everything in between. We made it a goal to watch at least one event in every sport. I will never again mock synchronized swimming. Those girls are impressive. Race walking, however, I will continue to mock mercilessly. Come on, IOC. You cut softball but keep race walking? Explain that logic. We also watched this roughly 2,478 times.
7.) Janelle wore her floaties for about 15 minutes this summer. Then she ditched them and turned into a fish.

Time continues to fly...

Love it!
