Sinnemahone Ultra Trail Race

The Sinnemahone is a beastly trail race that consists of a 10K, 25K, or 50K over some pretty challenging terrain and an elevation gain of thousands of feet. The starting line also happens to sit pretty much in our backyard so it's been on the bucket list for a while.

Some of us are *ahem* still not recovered from our last running adventure so actually running this was out of the question. Fortunately, there is a generous 10 hour time limit so a mass group of Light Brites signed up to hike this monster.

We usually spend the moments before most races adjusting gear, making numerous trips to the bathroom, checking our watches, and generally pacing nervously.

This time we sat in the car with the heater blasting, eating donuts and drinking coffee. It was a different sort of race.

Some of us were a little over-eager to get started...

We hiked, chatted, stopped for photo ops, and meandered through 25K of gorgeous Pennsylvania mountains.

It was a laid-back 16 mile hike through the woods with friends and it might be one of my favorite "races" yet.

Next year? Who knows. Maybe we'll tackle that monster with a run.
