Snapshot Sunday: Contagious

We feel we need to warn you we may have a disease.

A wonderful, life-changing disease.

It's called Running Fever and it seems to be contagious.

You already know about these suckers  friends we dragged along with us last summer .

Then there are these chicks, Katie and Maddie, some of my best buds in the whole wide world and two of the most unlikely runners you will ever meet.

(Admittedly, this is not the greatest picture but there was much stealth and skulking involved in capturing it. Even disguises and a borrowed car with tinted-windows. Really. High five to E, my incognito-partner-in-stealth. And sorry girls, but you know we took it because we're so stinkin' proud of you, right?)

Anyway, one swore she hated running. DESPISED it. She could be heard vehemently declaring she would never ever ever run, not in a million years, not even if her life depended on it, not even if she were being chased by werewolves, orcs, AND a yeti. She would take her chances, thank you very much. (Ok, I may have made the last part up but you get the gist.) And that other chick? She didn't even own a pair of sneakers. True Story.

Now they are training together for their very first 5K.

So. So. Proud.

And then there is this:

Nelly has been begging to run with E and I for months now. Then she caught wind of the 1 mile kid's fun run at a local race and she was sold. So Andy took her to the track one night to give her a sense of how far a mile is and to give her the opportunity to see if it was even something she enjoyed.

She took off.

And just kept going.

Like our own little pink energizer bunny.

She ended up running 5 laps on her first night out. (That's 1.25 miles for you non-runners.)

One and a quarter miles running, not walking.

Now if there is even a glimmer of sunshine outside she is asking to go to the track. She is so hooked.

So my friends, lace up! Give it a try and you may find yourselves hooked, too.

(Important Disclaimer: Please do not construe this to mean that we are Running Masters in any sense. Just because we enjoy it, does not mean we are great at it.)
